This past week, I was invited to attend the 2nd Annual #GreenEggPlantPressJam Food Tasting Menu Event at the Green Egg Plant Mediterranean Restaurant. When I attended last year, I had a great time and being able to return for a 2nd visit is a great honour. I would like to thank the PR at Green Egg Plant for inviting me once again.
Green Egg Plant is located at The Beaches. As we all know, when summer comes, the Beaches is a popular spot for many who goes to the beaches to swim or sun bath or play beach volleyball. Many residents and other tourists would also like to walk around this area to enjoy the unique vibe this area offers.
At this #GreenEggPlantPressJam, I was joined by other well-known food bloggers around the GTA. This includes Elizabeth (@emfriesen); Joallore (@clickflickca) and Soheila (@SoheilaOnline). Follow them! They are all good peeps!
The tasting event began with a nice beverage. Many ordered its signature Bellinis, which were so big you can do bi-ceps with them. I opted for my Mojito. Then shareables started to come out. Let me tell you, Green Egg Plant’s food items have big portions and they are tasty and reasonably priced. But let’s just say at this #GreenEggPlantPressJam event, we were super full. So much food but we were all glad we got to try so many signature dishes from Green Egg Plant so that we had tasted them all and share with you our insights & our feedback.
We were served with the following appetizers to share:
- Mediterranean Bruschetta
- Home Made Chicken Tenders (I was told chicken tenders are prepared fresh & never frozen)
- Crispy Calamari (freshly prepared and never frozen, nicely battered, my favourite calamari in Toronto)
- Sauce Dip with Toasty Bread
- Hungary Goulash Soup (tasty, warm & hearty, super impressed with this soup)
- Chicken Quesadillas
To be honest, after indulging all the appetizers, at this point, I was somewhat full already. But that’s not all, we were invited to each choose an entree from the long list of variety of food items from the menu. Some chose pasta, lamb chops, burgers, some ordered the February entree of the evening, grilled pork chop. I opted for the New York Steak Shish Kebob. Every entree also comes with fries or salad or other side orders.
I enjoyed my New York Steak Shish Kebob very much. Two giant skewers of New York Steak sticked to the heavy duty metal to grill to a juicy and tender quality. I luv the smell of the grill of the meat as well. And mind you, I ordered a glass of red wine to complement the red meat. It was so tasty. I could only managed to finish one of the skewers, the house salad and the rest of the other steak skewers and my mashed potato were packed for lunch the next day.
To top it off, everyone ordered dessert. It’s amazing how human being are being built, we could be full for appetizer, entree, yet we have a special room for dessert. Many ordered its signature Warm Chocolate Lava Cake. Basically warm chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream. I opted for the Jumbo Banana Split and it was so good!
It was definitely a great evening of good food, good drinks and a fun evening hanging out and catching up with other food bloggers. Will I visit Green Egg Plant again? Most definitely! This is a restaurant that is perfect for date nights, couples night, family nights and all kinds of occasions.
When the warmer weather arrives, I will definitely want to walk around the area and enjoy a nice dining experience at the patio at the Green Egg Plant. Thank you to Green Egg Plant for having me at the #GreenEggPlantPressJam. Hopefully I can carry on the tradition to be invited again in the near future!
And MoVernie is outta here!
