2019 is moving very quickly. Time flies, as we are already in the month of July! There are tons of great activities during this summer in Toronto but for me, Smashfest is always 1 of my favourite events to cover throughout the entire year. Why? Smashfest is a very well-organized annual charitable event, raising awareness about concussion and rare cancer. Money being raised during Smashfest are donated to finding a cure for rare cancer and concussion research.
All you need to do is purchase tickets to attend the Smashfest which is being held on Thursday, July 25th @ 7:00 pm at the Steamwhistle Brewery, located right at the heart of the downtown core. It’s so conveniently located beside a number of parking lots and it’s close to the Union Station so you can come in via TTC or GO Transit.
Tickets include open bar, catered buffet and your chance to meet with current and past NHL players. You can chat with them, take selfies with them, get autographs or if you are lucky, you will be selected to pair up with an NHL player as your teammate and challenge other teams on the ping-pong challenge.
So….why ping-pong you may ask? How does ping-pong relates to hockey? Well….the NHL players told me (during my coverage of past Smashfest) that in every locker room, there is always at least 1 ping-pong table. NHL players love playing ping-pong during down time as a team bonding activity and it’s great for them to practice their reflexes and hand-eye coordination.
Smashfest is now in its 8th season. It’s an amazing milestone.
Tickets are available on this website. This event is super popular that I recommend you to purchase them quick before they sold out. Once they sold out, they sold out and you surely don’t want to miss out.
Watch the video below to learn more about how Smashfest makes a difference in supporting the rare cancer and concussion research. And by the way, Dominic Moore, the NHL player is the founder of Smashfest. See you at the Smashfest!
