Despite the fact that Phoenix, Arizona is a desert, it is actually a top destination to watch sports games. It is a place where it has a strong fan base and it is home to the top 4 professional sports (NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL). They have the Phoenix Suns (NBA), Arizona Cardinals (NFL), Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB) and Arizona Coyotes (NHL). Additionally, they also host other cool sporting events such as Wrestling and UFC and other college sports games.
Additionally, Arizona is home of the Cactus League, hosting spring training baseball games staring in February of every year. I was on a press trip this past February 2019 to cover the spring training baseball. The media watched a few baseball games, up close and personal interacting with baseball players and getting a feel of what it’s like watching a spring training game at various baseball stadiums that are located closely within the communities. It’s quite an experience. Click here to read more about my spring training experience.
If you are a sports fan and love watching a number of sports, I highly recommend you to consider planning a vacation trip that focus on watching different sports teams. You can bring your family, your kids or perhaps a buddies trip, Phoenix and its surrounding towns will be a great place for such a sport theme vacation. I know many people plan a road trip to Phoenix if they live in the United States. Meanwhile, some Canadians will fly down to escape the cold winter and come and watch some spring training games and relax and hang out in Phoenix, especially this city has so much to offer.
I have visited Phoenix on 2 occasions. In my 1st press trip to Phoenix during June of 2017, I dedicated some free time and went to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play at Chase Field (right across Talking Stick Resort Arena, home of the Phoenix Suns). Then, in my 2nd press trip, I visited Phoenix on February 2019 and the focus of the trip was to cover the spring training. While we went and watched a number of spring training games and visited a number of ballparks, I had decided to make this a sports theme trip so I can write about my experience of watching a number of sports games when visiting Phoenix.
You could literally watched all the sports games by the top 4 professional teams. However, you do have to time it right so that all 4 sports teams are playing in the schedule. During my visit in February 2019, I couldn’t watch the Arizona Cardinals since the NFL season was finished by then. But Arizona Diamondbacks were playing during spring training and I was able to catch a Phoenix Suns game and an Arizona Coyotes game, so that’s not bad at all.
