Bayou Rum, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a very cool spot. You do have to drive to this place but it’s well worth it. It has a big piece of land and the main building itself is historic and very authentic.
As we walked in, there were tons of Bayou merchandize to purchase, including the Rum products of course.
We went on a FREE Tour of the Bayou Rum. We first walked into a theatre room, sat down and watched a short clip about how Bayou Rum was established. Then, a knowledgeable expert guided us around the Rum manufacturing stations, also telling us how rum is made, the ingredients needed and why Lake Charles, Louisiana is a good place to make rum.
In particular, you got to check out its new Event Space, the space is very new, with its own bar section, the big lobby area, the barrel library, the outdoor space, it’s perfect for wedding, big parties and corporate events.
The best part at Bayou? You get to taste some of the Bayou rum samples, they have 6-8 flavours to choose from. Personally, I like the XO, Spice and the Classic flavours. Once you have decided what flavour you like, remember to buy some home as souvenir.
I was told that they have also recently opened up a cafe shop at a building just next door to the main building. I didn’t get a chance to check out the cafe, but if you do, let me know your thoughts.
