I luv House of Gourmet, it’s a main stable for Chinese food in Chinatown and whenever I am hungry, whether it’s lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, late hours, this is one of my go-to places.
Owners and staff are hardworking here, they often give you a smile and provide what you need if you ask them nicely and being polite.
They have one of my favourite shrimp wontons, and let me tell you why I luv their shrimp wontons, not overly big like other resto which are ridiculous to eat, shrimp here are “song”, bouncy and thin wrap, very clear outside that you can see inside. Most importantly, their shrimp wonton consists of big pieces of shrimps, then shrimp paste with bamboo shoots and garlic.
Food items are in good portion, tasty, delicious and good pricing. You can order dinner combo, a la carte, stir fry noodles, fried rice, or BBQ meat, perhaps congee and soup wonton noodles. It’s amazing how these chefs can wok it so many dishes.
I recently ordered their Monday specials, they have 3 special each day for the week. For example, Monday, they serve BBQ roasted pork with soy sauce chicken with veggies and steam rice that comes with steaming hot chinese soup and a hot beverage for only $12.99 CDN + tax. That’s a great price! Fills up your tummy.
On another day, they will have other special items.
Thank you for serving the communities and providing authentic Chinese food days in and days out, thank you!
PS – they have nice ginger/green onion sauce for BBQ rice and the hot chilli oil is perfect for soup noodles.
