I grew up dining here often at Wonton Hut 雲吞棧, although they have a Queen Street West location, this Unionville location is where everything began.
Wonton Hut 雲吞棧 is consistent, every time I get my noodle fix, the broth, the quality and the taste and flavour are top notch and consistent. They never cheap out on ingredients or portion, it’s the same consistent high quality bowl of soup noodles.
They have a variety of meat options that you can choose for your bowl of soup noodles, from sliced beef, braised beef brisket, wonton shrimp, or shrimp dumpling, squid balls and more.
I personally luv the pairing of beef brisket and shrimp dumpling. The beef brisket has a hint of beef tendon with juicy tender brisket in marinated sauce. Then the shrimp dumpling has good wood ear fungi with big pieces of shrimps.
The broth is clear and light which I luv the “nine yellow” chive plants which many resto don’t use but Wonton Hut maintains putting into the broth which is the most authentic and important to a perfect bowl of noodles.
For me, the KEY Highlight is the egg noodles. The noods is the STAR here! The noodles are chewy, “song”, bouncy with a good al dente feel to it. Super good. You got to eat it quick though before it gets soggy. I think the noodles is the jewel of the entire bowl of noodles here at Wonton Hut.

NOTE: They don’t take reservations here as traditionally, wonton shop in Hong Kong is a small shop for small group and a quick in to indulge the noodles and then get out of here. It’s not meant to chill or take a long time. So, the turnaround is quick even if wait a bit.
