Many foodies will recognize the name of “Linh Anh” serving great Vietnamese cuisine in the Scarborough area. With its popularity off the charts, this restaurant decided to open up 2 more locations, with one located in Unionville, right across CF Markville Shopping Mall. And the other located in Richmond Hill, inside the Times Square Plaza.
Today, we went to the Markham location. Luckily, there was no lineup and we were being seated right away. This location was formerly a Chinese restaurant called “Double Lucky“. We were super impressed with the interior design of Linh Anh as it offers a very chic, modern decor. With a super high ceiling and spacious dining area, it felt like you were transported into someone’s authentic house in Vietnam.
There were big vases and ceramic hardware everywhere you sit. There is a spot that feels like you are dining at someone’s house in Vietnam (next time, I really want to sit in that area). Compared to the Scarborough Headquarter, this Unionville location is at least 3x bigger. Tables are bigger, chairs are comfy and it’s just a treat to enjoy a nice meal with the decor.
Now, Linh Anh has substance, it offers authentic Vietnamese dishes that aren’t being offered elsewhere. Moreover, it also offers some dishes only found here at this Unionville location and not even at its main Scarborough location.
We ordered the freshly made shrimp and pork rice rolls, super delicious and plating presentation.
I ordered the House Pho Special, which only offers one size (as most other Vietnamese restaurants usually offers small, medium, large and extra large sizes). The one size pho was enough for my appetite. Broth was clear and flavourful and offers generous amount of beef raw meat, tendon, tripe, beef balls and brisket. Noodles were fresh and good width size.
We also ordered the chicken Pad Thai which was a big portion with some refreshing veggies and cucumber salad and lots of chicken meat on the noodles. The flavour was good, not too sweet or not too spicy.
And of course, the prices of the food here are relatively more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants as you also pay for the modern interior. However, this is how I sum it up, with the food cost being increased post pandemic, many mama papa shops jacked up their prices so a normal bowl of pho ranges from $15.50 to $18.95 CDN + tax, thus, if this Linh Anh offers one size at $17.95 CDN to $20.95 CDN (with bone marrow), I totally don’t mind paying for it here at Linh Anh coz it’s very rare to dine at a Vietnamese restaurant that offers a comfortable and inviting interior with big spacious dining area, while offering good food and authentic Vietnamese dishes that not being offered elsewhere.
Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here at the new Unionville location at Linh Anh and it’s a perfect place to enjoy a nice meal with friends and families and perfect to go across CF Markville Shopping Mall to shop after or grocery shopping at the nearby FoodyMart Supermarket.
We will be back and this will most likely one of the mainstays where we will visit more for lunch or dinner moving forward.
