Hello everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA after the devasting Blue Jays Game #7 loss. Yesterday was “NOT” a Sunday Funday for me. I just wanted to take my mind off the disastrous ending to the Cinderella story of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Overall, I am feeling ok coz as I mentioned in my IG Stories before, the ONLY way the Jays can win is in Game #6. Once the Jays couldn’t win, I could feel the negative energy that we will not win Game #7 and hence also why I didn’t pay stupid $ to go coz I don’t want to overpay Game #7 and have to walk of shame home. I did believe the Jays can beat Shohei Ohtani since he is pitching and can’t multi-task and we also won in Game #4 against him, however, the rest of the Dodgers prevailed. Since mentally I was prepared for the worst and I wasn’t at SkyDome, my heart break was kept to the minimal.
Besides, I care more about the experience and my journey watching the Jays in Los Angeles for Game #3, #4 & #5 that will forever be with me. It’s an unforgettable experience of a life time. I built new memories with my bro, MoKenny, my buddy, Steven Morana in LA and high school/university friends who lives in California. I would never imagined that I was able to watch Springer game winning homerun in Game #7 of ALCS.
Then I watched World Series Game #1, #3, #4, #5 and #6. Going to 5 World Series games was something that I never thought I could do. I am grateful and thankful.
I really thought the Jays can prove me wrong that with 2 outs, we are World Series Champion, until Hoffman gave up the homerun to Miguel Rojas. If Shohei hits that homerun to tie the game, I have nothing to say. But to let a 9th batter who is a light hitting Rojas to hit a homerun, that was flat out sad. Anyhow, it feels like there was various forces that didn’t want the Jays to win, from the wedgie ball stuck in the fence or Rojas homerun or Pages coming in to make that catch over Kiki Hernandez to IKF not sliding to home in time at home plate, time and time again, we were stopped to win the chip.
At the end of the day, the Jays missed all the opportunities to win both Game #6 or Game #7. We shy away from our small ball strategy which we were so good at during the regular season. Even if Barger wedged ball didn’t get stuck to the fence in Game #6, Straw and Barger would be on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out, yet our offence couldn’t even bring them in to tie the game. Bottom of the 9th for Game #7, all Varsho needs to do is hit a sac fly, and we would win the game. Instead, it’s a ground ball right at Mel Rojas. And with Vladdy leading off with a double with nobody out in extra 11th inning, Barger was on 1st base, Kirk could have just hit a sac fly to tie the game, yet he hits into a double play. Even if the bat didn’t get broken, it was still a ground ball double play.
All-in-all, the Dodgers didn’t win this series, the Jays shot themselves in the foot. Toronto Blue Jays was a better team and the better team didn’t win. This was the 1st time I watched the entire series where an opposition team has a lineup of batters who were crap. Shohei has his moments here and there but he was nowhere dominant and he was beatable. Mookie Betts, even Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Kiki, Max Muncy, Any Pages/Alex Call, they were all crap for mostly the entire series. Only guys that were consistently doing the damages were Will Smith and Tommy Edman.
If I ever looked back to this World Series, the ONLY game that I wish we could have won was the famous 18-inning game that I was watching in Los Angeles. Bo got tagged out for standing on no man’s land in the 1st inning that we could have scored at least 1 run to start the game. And John Schneider pulled all the starters and left with backup hitters that has no chance to hit or bring home the runs was too painful to watch. That was a game that we could have won if the Kirk and Barger were still in the game.
Anyhow, life is never fair. Not sure if it’s a curse or anything, being Toronto sports fans are never easy. We never get a comfortable lead and be relaxed, there is always a chance the other team can comeback and haunt us. We are used to the heart breaks over and over again, but this disastrous ending to the Jays World Series Game #7 will be the WORST of all-time in Toronto sporting history. We will survive though, we are used to it.
Overall, I am proud being Canadian, I am proud of the Toronto Blue Jays, this was by far one of the BEST magical season that I witnessed in all Toronto sporting history. The team played hard, they taught me how important defence plays a big role in baseball. They care and luv playing for each other. Multiple comebacks this season brought me joy and realized how special this group is.
Unfortunately, despite how many fans would like to see the Jays coming back to the top next year, although anything is possible, it’s going to take a long while before the Jays can reach the World Series all over again. It’s just hard to duplicate what they have accomplished this year. This was a one-and-done magical year. This was one major reason I had decided to fly to LA to witness history coz I know it won’t happen for anytime soon. However, let’s just hope we don’t have to wait for another 32 years to see the Jays making the World Series.
THANK YOU Blue Jays!
