Dallas Mavericks Fired General Manager Nico Harrison – 9 Months After He Traded Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers

Nico Harrison, a name that many people know due to his controversial unpopular trade of the fan favourite NBA player, Luka Doncic unexpectedly traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers.

After 9 months of that trade, Nico Harrison has now been fired by the Dallas Mavericks.

When Nico pulled the trigger back on February 1, 2025, everyone from the NBA was shocked, coz most people thought it was a joke as no one in their right mind would give up a young 26 year old generational talent to Lakers for an oft-injured centre named Anthony Davis, Max Christie and one draft pick. The return was underwhelming.

Anyhow, after a 3-8 start by the Mavs this young NBA season, coupled with superb performance by Luka scoring at least 40+ points in his past few games, the sharp contrast was too much to bear that the Mavs management had decided to move on.

Quite honestly, we all know the management and owner of the Mavs have to ok the deal proposed by Nico in order for him to ship Luka out of Dallas. But as always the case, when teams are losing, GMs or Coaches are the first one to blame and to let go.

Good riddance.

I have a follower who suggested to me that “Wouldn’t it be funny if Lakers rehire Nico back to LA as part of their master evil plan to trade Luka to the Lakers?”. That’s actually would be too funny and it’s still possible. We will find out.
