Neighbourhood Cafe 街坊茶餐廳 is a nice casual comforting Chinese Hong Kong Cafe. Moment you walked in, the poster and mural on the wall brought nostalgic memories of HK.
We came here for its Afternoon Tea special (from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM daily), it has quite a variety of choices and prices are reasonable and fair.
We both ordered the Fried Chicken Leg with fries $12.78 CDN + tax that comes with a complimentary hot beverage (cold beverage add $1.50 CDN).
Fried chicken leg and fries were made-to-order which required about 10-15 mins to fried, which we don’t mind at all, as we utilized the time to catch up and chat. And it’s worth the wait when food is being prepared.
When the food finally arrived, holy smoke, the chicken legs were HUGE!!!!!! It’s bigger than my fist, so big, it’s crazy! It’s crispy outside, pipping hot and juicy inside. Fries were nicely battered as well and crispy.
The only drawback for the chicken legs were its lack of flavour. It’s good it’s not salty coz they didn’t sprinkled any salt or pepper but there isn’t much marination or sauce in the meat, thus, I could taste the blend chicken meat.
Hot Ying Yang was nice and smooth. Cold iced coffee was nice as well.
Overall, it’s nice to come here, portion, reasonable price. Will definitely come back.
Currently, they are offering Christmas/New Years party tray specials, such as fried chicken wings, fried rice, etc.
