1st Impression: 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country EV

This week, the MoVernie Team is test driving this 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country all-electric subcompact SUV.

EX30 is the smallest EV in the Volvo EV lineup right now. My 1st impression? I really like the overall exterior look of this subcompact, it looks small but mighty. The front LED front lights are made out of small puzzles of light bulbs which is quite cool. And I like the side look and my favourite part? I really dig the rear lights configuration. I like the 2 layers of rear lights.

As for the 1st impression of the driving experience? This ride has a fast take-off, I mean, very quick acceleration. Great turning accurate radius and a very good suspension offering a superior smooth ride.

At the same time, there are a lot for me to learn about this EX30 coz it’s not your ordinary typical vehicle. There are many odds or weird features and layout that I need to get used to. First of all, there is no keyfob on this EX30, but instead, a keycard that looks like a credit card that you tap on the B-pillar of the driver side in order to open or close all the doors.

There are no start/stop engine button. Once you are inside, you switch “D”, it’s ready to roll.

Volvo design team opted for a very simplistic and minimalistic approach where almost everything you need have to go thru the central screen. Even to open the glove box, you have to look for it in the screen to click it open.

Anyways, there is a lot of learning curve but I am intrigued. I am open minded to learn how everything works on this ride.

Stay tuned on my media product review of this 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country later this week when we have more time On the MOVE with this ride.
