Advanced Voting Days – 2022 Toronto Municipal Election (October 24, 2022)

The 2022 Toronto Municipal Election is happening on October 24, 2022.

I am super grateful and thankful that I live in a country where I can vote and that my votes counts and mean something. As we look around the world, this freedom of vote isn’t always available in other countries.

MoVernie QUESTION: Did you know that….you can vote in advance and you don’t have to wait til the election day to vote? For me, I already whom I am voting for and I also don’t want to line up in the crowds to vote on election day.

Since I was given an election card showing the advance voting days is from October 7 to October 14, 2022, I have decided to take a short walk during my lunch time and go and vote.

Every resident was mailed with an election card, it will indicate which advance voting locations was assigned to my residence area.

Volunteers and staff were all courteous, they will guide us or provide instructions. I provided the staff with a piece of my ID and my election card. The staff verifies my name on their lists and then then provided me with a file with the secret ballot in the folder.

I then walked to one of the booth station, looked over the instructions, the form this time requires the voter to circle the oval shaped empty box. I am sure each area is different, but I was asked to vote the Mayor, Councilor and Trustee.

After I completed my ballot, I handed the secret ballot file to a staff, she immediately place my ballot to a scanner and the paper got scanned and then my votes got recorded into the machine.

The whole process was easy, efficient, easy to understand and it took me only 2 minutes for the entire process. I know many don’t bother to exercise their citizenship rights and don’t bother to vote, but to me, it’s important to vote, reflect and appreciate our country that allows us to make a difference with our every vote.

Just vote and participate!

MoVernie TIP: Bring a piece of your ID, the election card with you to the voting station. If the address on your ID is different from the address shown on the election card, you should bring a document that shows the address on the election card. An electricity bill with your address that also correspond with your election card would work!
