Aqua Concert – Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto – Ontario, Canada

I am a BIG fan of the “Aqua” music group coz I grew up listening to their music.

Who are the Aqua Group? Aqua is a Danish-Norwegian eurodance band, best known for their 1997 single “Barbie Girl”. The group formed in 1995 in Copenhagen, Denmark and achieved international success around the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

To this date, you will still hear “Barbie Girl” on many radio stations and from recent movie “Barbie”, this song got more attention once again.

Thus, when Aqua has tour date to perform at the Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto (Great Canadian Casino), I jumped on the chance to watch the concert with my bro, Kenrick (aka MoKenny). For disclaimer, we received complimentary concert tix courtesy from Great Canadian Casino, however, my concert experience opinion is my own.

In case you have not heard where is Great Canadian Casino, it’s located right beside the famous Woodbine Racetrack. In the past, people come here to watch horse racing. But with such a big property of land, the corporation to expand and make this a community, featuring new hotel, casino, concert hall, restaurants and bars, providing the guests an elevated experience.

We were invited to check out the Concert Hall a few years ago by Great Canadian Casino to get a sneak peek of this concert hall. Our 1st impression? It’s modern with good size. There were good amount of seats for fans to sit down, especially accommodating those fans who can’t stand for the entire concert but wanted some comfort of sitting down.

The main area could be setup with rows and rows of seats. But if the specific talent prefers the main area to be standing, the venue could remove the seats to create a standing atmosphere. Thus, this concert hall is very versatile.

During that sneak peek, I recalled the band “Valley” performed to showcase to the media and VIP guests what it’s like to watch a concert here at the concert hall. Valley is a Canadian music band based in Toronto, Canada. Back then, I thought the lights, audio were very on-point, super balanced, the sound engineer did a great job making adjustments throughout the performance.

Fast forward a few years later, it’s our 1st time watching a concert at Great Canadian Casino. This time is for real, a real music performance featuring Aqua.

Some of the popular songs performed by Aqua included:

  1. Barbie Girl
  2. Roses are Red
  3. Lollipop (Candyman)
  4. Doctor Jones
  5. My Oh My

So…what are the pros and cons of watching the concert at the Great Canadian Casino?

Pros:

– For those who lives in Mississauga, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Oakville, Burlington or Barrie regions, they no longer have to drive all the way to downtown Toronto to attend a concert. Imagine being stuck in traffic trying to get into the Scotiabank Arena or Rogers Centre, that’s almost like you have to take a day off to commute into or out of the downtown core. So, it’s refreshing to have concerts being performed here at the Great Canadian Casino area.

– Although it’s nice to drive to watch concert at Fallsview Niagara or Casino Rama, but sometimes, it’s still quite a long track to drive from the Greater Toronto Area to those casinos. Why not just enjoy the show at a relatively proximity at Great Canadian Casino?

– FREE parking at Great Canadian Casino, I think this is a major win for every concert goers. You can park your car to watch the concert while the parking is FREE. You can even park your vehicles on multi-layered parking spots where there is a roof. Imagine during the winter, you don’t have to wipe snow off your ride and you can leave immediately.

– The concert hall here at Great Canadian Casino is a good size, it’s not too big or too small, the size is just Perfect! Sometimes, when the talent isn’t selling out, you don’t want to pay for the tix and see empty seats everywhere. Too small of a venue, you are pretty much at a tight squeezy club, which also not good sometimes.

– Some talent may not necessary able to fill the seats at Rogers Centre or Scotiabank Arena, so the organizer just don’t want to book them in to perform in Toronto. But with the good size of the Great Canadian Casino, some of those talents will be more inclined to perform at Great Canadian Casino knowing they could fill the seats.

Cons:

– I honestly couldn’t really pinpoint anything bad about this venue space coz we had a great experience. Everything is very well-balanced. Overall, our seats are great, right on the ground level 20 rows in front of the centre stage.

Overall Experience:

We really enjoyed our overall experience watching Aqua performed here at the Great Canadian Casino. It was a jam packed house with fans that ranges from kids to adults. This was a 19+ all-age music concert.

MoVernie TIP: What happens if you have kids and you can’t get through the casino in order to get to the concert hall? No worries! There is an entrance right beside the concert hall that does not required to walk through the casino. Furthermore, there is also a 2nd floor route that allows you to bypass the casino and walk around the casino, so you and your kids could enjoy the concert without having to walk through the casino.

Next time, we would luv to dine at one of the restaurants, stay for an evening at the hotel, just so we can share our total experience here on the property.
