Chang’s Christmas Feast – Annual Traditional Dinner 2021

0

Every year, the Chang’s Family gather around and enjoy a traditional Christmas Feast. Last year, unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we didn’t host a family dinner to maintain physical distancing. Moreover, no one was in the mood to celebrate.

But for this Christmas, we figure that it’s important we resume and continue with our family traditional and we feel that “Life goes on!”. We can’t let this pandemic affect our lives. We need to move forward and continue to enjoy life in a responsible way.

With a small gathering, Chef Daddy is back in business to prepare the turkey. After years of mastering the turkey, Chef Daddy knows what temperature to slow cook the bird. Moreover, we don’t like the usual stuffing, so instead, Chef Daddy has steam cooked the Chinese sticky rice with delicious Chinese sausages and cilantro and he shoved the steamed sticky rice into the turkey so the juice can sip into the rice to give it more flavour. Trust me, the Chinese sticky rice is delicious. It’s a fan favourite.

We invited our old neighbour and enjoy an evening of good feast.

For starters, we started off with a shot of Zirkova One Vodka, as I figured it’s a great way to start the evening.

Then we started off with the freshly shucked oysters. We decided to pair it with a bottle of white wine.

Then, we opened a bottle of cold Japanese sake as it pairs perfectly with the Sashimi platter. We luv sashimi as the platter comes with salmon, tuna, octopus, amberjack, shrimps, surf clams and much much more!

And for this year, MoKenny decided to help Chef Daddy out and by cooking up a very nice dish. He bought some very nice Wagyu A5 steak. Look how amazing the marble is!

They were juicy, tender, melt in your mouth!

And for the “Main Event”, Chef Daddy’s traditional turkey dinner. Chef Daddy has mastered how to ensure the turkey meat is juicy and tender and not overcooked and not dry. Additionally, he likes to steam Chinese sticky rice as stuffing. The rice is always a fan favourite.

Chef Daddy’s TIP: Steam the Chinese sticky rice, Chinese sausage, cilantro into a rice cooker first. This will ensure the rice are fully cooked. Then shoved the sticky rice into the turkey (front and back of the hallow space). You will thank Chef Daddy for this stuffing tip. Trust me, it’s way better than the traditional western stuffing. This Chinese sticky rice is WAY better.

Lastly, it’s MoKenny’s fiancée birthday, so we celebrated both Christmas and her birthday at the same time with a lovely Earl Grey layered cake that we ordered by Bake Code.

What a feast to remember. Good company, good family & friends time, super high quality food and drinks.

I am grateful and thankful to celebrate Christmas with my family and friends. From my family to yours, wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Cheers!
