We recently had our family dinner at the newly renovated Keung Kee 新旺角强記 – Unionville, Ontario, Canada.
Quite honestly, there are mostly minor cosmetic changes to the interior design. More wooden strips on the wall with some warm lights. The water tanks storing fresh fishes, crabs and lobsters are being placed on the centre spot.
The menu are mainly intact with some minor changes, but when a restaurant undergo a renovation, it also means there is a cost, the cost just transfer to the paying customers of course. Thus, you will see the pricing of each dish has been increased. I would say most dishes went up between $1-$4 each. Overall, the pricing is still reasonable and on par with other similar restaurants.
One major dish change is that…sweet & sour chicken is no longer available but instead, the more mainstream sweet & sour pork is now available.
Also, sadly, Keung’s Restaurant 強記雞粥 no longer serves soup noodles. No more shrimp wonton or beef brisket ho fun, I am torn coz this is one of the restaurants that I personally think serve good soup noodles. The servers said they are focusing on plate of stir fried noodles and dinner dishes than soup noodles. That’s unfortunate. A big sad face. 🙁
As a consolation prize, they still serve congee. Thank goodness.
