Did you know….the famous Fishman Lobster Clubhouse in Scarborough has another location called Jumbo Lobster Clubhouse in Richmond Hill? Yes, they are affliated.
Personally, we prefer Fishman Lobster Clubhouse coz that’s where it all started and the OG chefs are all located there. But since it’s undergoing renovations, it’s still good to dine at Jumbo Lobster Clubhouse (Jumbo Lobster).
Moment you step into the Jumbo Lobster, you will notice how spacious this restaurant is, the high ceiling at the big reception, it’s elegant, it’s grand and it’s luxurious. The theme is dark lit so it reminds me of Harbour Sixty Steakhouse.
Just like it’s usual layout, the restaurant is surrounded by many water tanks where you can see all the gigantic lobsters and Alaskan king crabs. What’s new are the aging beef stations featuring all the beef for steak. In other location, you wouldn’t see steak, but at Jumbo Lobster, they start serving steak as part of the dinner, making it an Asian Fusion style. More options for many patrons.
However, since our parents don’t eat steak and we prefer to focus on seafood as we prefer to eat steak at other steak houses. Most of the combo they offer seem to include steak as part of the meal, thus, it becomes difficult to find a combo that focus on lobsters and king crabs.
Luckily, there is a combo that doesn’t include steak and focus more on lobsters and king crabs, we do hope Jumbo Lobster offers more combos that don’t include steak in the near future.
This was what we ordered for our family seafood feast:
Traditional Chinese Boil Soup
Suckling pig (half a pig) – super crispy skin with juicy and tender meat. (Note: Not part of the dinner combo but extra charge at $86 CDN + tax)
Baked lobster with supreme soup – this was an unexpected delight as we never order this cooking style before. Don’t let the word “soup” fools you, there are no soup/broth, it won’t make the lobster soggy which I am super glad. The lobster has good juicy meat and it’s nicely done.
