Farmer Market Konstablerwache (Outdoor) – Frankfurt, Germany (Frankfurt am Main)

As I always suggest to my friends and followers, the best way to know about a city/town and learn its culture is by taking local transportations, walk around local streets, try the street food and drinks, go to the local public farmer’s market. Coz that’s best way to see how the locals live their lives.

If you are visiting the heart of Frankfurt’s city centre, be sure to check out it’s farmer market (outdoor), Bauernmarkt Konstablerwache. As far as I can remember, the farmer’s market opens weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays. In case you wonder how on earth I would remember the business hours and days of operation? This is because 1) I am a good listener and 2) I just find it interesting that you setup the tents and everything for farmer’s market, that you would take it down on Thursday night, skip the Friday and then set it all up on Saturday again. For me, with all that effort, it makes more sense to open on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, coz it’s more efficient and worthwhile to set up all the tents. Anyhow, it is what it is and I am sure the vendors and the City of Frankfurt have their own reasoning. And funny or not, that’s how I remember that they only open on Thursdays and Saturdays for this particular reason.

This public market has everything from flowers, meat, vegetables, beverages, cooked food, everything is so fresh and very reasonably priced. Our private tour guide told us that this was the season for mushrooms (month of September). There were a large variety of different types of mushrooms.

Additionally, I have never seen so many types of apples available for sale. In Canada, we just go to the supermarket and the chances are, there are usually maximum of 2 or 3 different types of apples. That’s different in Frankfurt, from a glance, there are at least 10+ types of apples!

We were told the apple wine and freshly squeezed apple juice are delicious here. If you like, you can even purchase a bottle of it. I had a glass and it was delicious. Love the richness of the apple juice and it’s not bitter or sour at all, it was just perfect!
