Last year, I test drove the 2024 Acura MDX APEC, that SUV already have ample amount of horsepower with the base engine of 3.5L V6 SOHC, pumping out 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, not bad right?
This time around, Acura Canada puts me into the Type S Ultra, highest trim level of the MDX and the engine is even more powerful with 3.5L V6 DOHC turbo charged engine pumping out 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. That’s like MDX in steroids! It’s 65 more hp than the basic MDX and it shows!
Type S accelerates better, more effortless, great performance and just so much more fun to navigate. Of course, is it necessary to have that much more horsepower from the Type S vs the APEC trim? In reality, 290hp is good enough but no one will complain for more horsepower and more fun.
Moreover, I really like the red interior cabin, super more fun to drive, sharp and stylish.
MoVernie FUN FACT: Did you know this MDX Type S has massage capabilities for both front seats? I only knew that when I accidentally clicked the wrong button, as I thought I was pressing for the seat cooling ventilation but turned out it’s for massage feature. Better yet, they even offer different massage style such as Shiatsu or focus on lower back or upper back and different massage pressure. This massage offering in this Acura is legit and they take their massage system seriously. We really enjoyed it and wouldn’t want to get off the ride. LOL
This massage feature is a MUST ORDER if you ever planning to purchase an Acura MDX! It’s perfect especially you work hard for a long day and get stuck in our Toronto traffic.
Overall Impression:
– Nothing to complain about this Acura MDX Type S Ultra. As its name indicates, it’s ultra sporty, luxurious and stylish.
– I luv the liquid carbon metallic (it’s stylish and timeless), really make the Brembo red brakes stand out.
– Luv the red interior and the middle flat surface for the middle seat passenger on 2nd row.
– Despite many would complain for tight space for the 3rd row, but I still prefer the versatility of having 3 rows of seats than 2 rows, you can always fold down the 3rd row for more storage space.
– Good amount of horsepower and engine sound to really have some good fun drive with it.
