We have been to Keung Kee 新旺角强記雞粥 for many years now, service is great, always a bunch of young vibrant and hardworking smiling staff. Food price are reasonable.. Portion is very good. I am amazed how consistent the food quality no matter when you visit, 24/7 it’s solid, and all these years, quality maintain.
They also have a number of signature dishes that aren’t available in other restaurants such as the big hot pot of veggie, tofu, pork bone soup, or Vancouver crab with steam water lily rice in a bucket or “street style chan fun”, all very tasty. The congee, soup noodles, all top notch. I really like its “free range chicken”, always smooth, tender and just so tasty dipped in the ginger and green onion sauce.
This is my GO-TO place, highly recommended.

Seafood Tofu Pot
Steamy pot with the tofu and seafood inside. Open the lid and you can smell the aroma and hear the sizzling sound of the food. The sauce is perfect especially when you order a bowl of steamy white rice or perhaps a plate of Yeung Fried Rice. At Keung Kee, they never cheap out on the seafood, they are high quality seafood. Big shrimps, nice squids, decent sized scallops and just delicious!
Chinese Dessert
If you order a dinner combo or a few dishes and rice, the servers will usually give you complimentary Chinese dessert. Their dessert has many variety of them and I truly think their dessert taste even better than some Chinese specialized dessert shops.
In this case, the dessert in the photo is pumpkin small tapioca served hot.
Street Style Chan Fun (Rice Rolls)
This is an authentic dish paying tribute to the street food back in the good ol’ days of Hong Kong streets. Not every restaurant serve this dish anymore, but at Keung’s, they do it right.
Nice and hot, the rice rolls are sturdy and not soggy and can be lifted from the chopstix, and it comes with a good portion and perfect for shareable. The peanut sauce and seafood sauce are a MUST for this dish, but if you add some chilli oil, voila, oh mine! AMAZING!
Beef Brisket & Tendon Ho Fun (soup noodles)
Amazing marinated beef brisket and tendon mix, the ho fun noodles are so good. Nice broth and sprinkles of green onions. This is a great food item for lunch and afternoon tea.
Ice Cream Red Bean Beverage
During afternoon tea, Keung’s offer ice cream red bean beverage at no extra charge, which not many restaurants offer this with no charge. Many Cha Chan Tang offers this drink at $4.95 CDN + tax. Imagine, you order a bowl of beef brisket & tendon noodles or water dumplings noodles at $9.50 CDN + tax or other afternoon tea items and you get this dessert beverage at no extra charge? What a steal! You can also ordered other cold beverages at no extra charge as well.
Seafood Congee (Big Bowl)
We often ordered this seafood congee in a big bowl that can be shared among the whole family. You usually get 2 or 3 rounds of piping hot smooth congee consists of big shrimps, squid, scallops, imitation crab meat, fish roe, surf clams, white fish, this is super delicious with high quality of seafood.
Stir Fry Beef Spaghetti
Instead of ordering the usual stir fry beef ho fun, we decided to switch it up to order stir fry beef spaghetti, it’s equally nice and the crunchy bean sprouts and sesame sprinkled on top of the noods were a nice touch to the texture.
Singapore Vermicelli
Salt & Pepper Fried Tofu:
Luv the crispy of it outside and juicy pipping hot inside. Luv the size of the cubes with a little bit of heat to the flavour. I feel this dish would be perfect coupled with an ice cold beer.
Vegetable Fried Noodles:
If you are a vegetarian or occasionally just wanted to order a veggie dish, this vegetable fried noodles would be perfect for you. Not only is the fried noodles extra crispy with a sauce, it also have colour veggies from carrots, choy, fungi, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, lotus roots and more. Great texture and delish.
