After taking a nice shower in my hotel room at the Grand Hotel Central, I was chilling a bit and just wanted to relax and recharged. It was a long day especially I didn’t sleep for a whole 24 hours from the Toronto flight to Barcelona, then went out for sight-seeing, so I was basically super tired at this point.

However, I was looking forward to meeting the other Kia Global Ambassadors. After dressing up, I met up with Andrew and my buddy, Silvio. The restaurant for the evening was only a few blocks away, so it was within walking distance. The restaurant was called “La Torna” and to my surprise, it was located right beside the Farmer’s Market that we visited early this afternoon! We didn’t know our dinner place would be in the same area, so that was quite cool. And honestly, I think we were very productive for the day, using the free-time and really visited many parts of the city today. Outside La Torna, you could see the sharp, red colour Kia Gear Up signage.

As we walked to the back of the restaurant (this place was quite big), there were two big tables. 2/3 of the people were already sitting down. I walked around the table and introduced myself to each and everyone of them. Both tables consisted of Kia staff, buddies that were assigned to assist each Global Ambassador. I was super stoked to meet other Global Ambassadors for the very first time. In total, including me, there were 13 Kia Global Ambassadors, so this was definitely an Exclusive VIP Kia Gear Up experience.

Global Ambassadors came from all parts of the world. Countries that were represented for this Kia Gear Up campaign included Saudi Arabia, Peru, Italy, Germany, China, France, Spain, Korea, Panama, Turkey and Canada (which was me, aka MoVernie).

Food were being served throughout the evening. We tried to get to know more about each other, learned more about our respective cultures, languages and our customs. It felt like an mini-version of the United Nation. I lived in a multi-cultural country in Canada so it was quite a norm for me to learn about other’s culture. Globalization and the social media technology had really helped our civilization to connect with people from different parts of the world.

La Torna was a great modern and casual place for a group gathering to have a good time with good drinks and good food. There were a number of dishes that I never had before so it was cool for my taste buds to get to learn more about these unique ingredients and tastes.

After a nice meal and a great meetup, some of the group members decided to hang out at another place. Meanwhile, Andrew and I and some other members decided to head back to the hotel to rest up, especially we had such a long flight from Toronto to Barcelona and we spent the entire day touring the city. Besides, it was important for me to be recharged so that I am ready driving on the race track with the Kia vehicles on the next day.
