What a great way to kickoff 2023 at the iconic Library Bar located inside Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I often come here with my buddies to grab one of my favourite Old Fashioned in the city. This historic and iconic Library Bar was renovated a few years ago to give a refresher. What I appreciate about the design is that….it’s still old school. I am super thankful that the interior designing team maintains the space with the old fashion flare. It’s that old saying “Don’t fix the wheel if it ain’t broken“. You could tell the furniture are new, cupboards are new, the bar and counters are new but yet maintaining the retro feel, which I am sure everyone is thankful for.
We booked off a section of the Library Bar for our Private VIP party. The objective was to allow the guests to mix & mingle without just being glued to any particular seat. We encourage people to stand or move around to get to chat with everyone. It’s been a long time for this group to catch up and see how each other was doing.
I have to admit, normally when I come to the Library Bar, we mainly order the cocktails as that’s what this spot is famous for and we grabbed some snacks such as the beef tartare. This time, since we have a minimum budget, we went all out! We have a minimum standard to spend anyways so we ordered quite a good amount of food items to share and it was perfectly paired with the cocktails.
We ordered PÂTÉ which is basically chicken liver foie gras, torched pear and sourdough. We ordered Black Truffle Ravioli, beef sliders, mushroom toast, warm brie, fried chicken and much more. We were so full that we couldn’t finish them.
Although normally in January of every year, a lot of places are pretty much dead and quiet. Not this place, for some reason, the entire Fairmont Royal York was lively and vibrant during this evening. The Library Bar was jam packed. The Reign Restaurant and the Clockwork Bar were all also jam packed. It’s so nice to see the place being energetic during the January Blues.
We couldn’t finish the food that we ordered but we surely don’t want to waste any. This was the 1st time that I had seen Fairmont take out lunch boxes and bags for us to bring some food home.
Our main server was amazing! He was super hardworking and attentive. We appreciated his excellent hospitality. Overall, we had another great time here at the Library Bar. If you have never been, I highly recommend you to come check it out and enjoy a nice Old Fashioned.
