The Airshow London, one of the main tourist attraction in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, was such an excellent experience! We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a hot day though, may as well be the hottest day of the year. my wife, Shirley almost suffered a heat stroke! But really, other than the heat, the weather was perfect for an airshow.
The airshow itself was very well organized. In fact it was touted as the largest military airshow in Canada. They brought some awesome jets from the US which pretty much brought the entire line up of front-line aircrafts to the airshow, which we appreciated.
The lineup included the F-15, F-16, F-18F Super Hornet, A-10, F-22, and F-35, not to mention Canada’s own CF-18 and Snowbirds aerobatics team. The F-22 and F-35 are very hard to come by because they are so new. In fact it was the first time in Canada where we had the F-22 for static ground display, what a treat!
I felt like a kid in a candy store, being able to get so up close and personal admiring these amazing pieces of machinery. We got to lineup and being able to get inside some of these iconic planes.
Moreover, to see some of these planes in action in the air was amazing! The sound, the moves these pilots made in the air was such a rare sight.
Beyond the planes, the organizer also did a wonderful job bringing a great variety of food vendors (food trucks) to the venue. In fact, I even have to commend them on the washroom facilities as there were plenty of portable washrooms and all of them were very clean, no foul odour at all. They had hand-washing stations outside each row of portable washrooms, which were fully stocked with paper towels.
All in all, it was a world-class show being put together in a world-class manner. As an aviation fan, I would certainly love to go back year after year given the positive experience I had. This is definitely an event that is perfect for family, kids or date night or just hanging out with friends who appreciate these wonderful machines that fly in the air!
