Phillips Seafood at the Waterfront – Baltimore, Maryland, USA [BALTIMORE TRAVEL SERIES]

After checking-in at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel, I got hungry, especially I only ate some snack on the plane on my way flying from Toronto to Baltimore, so I decided to grab a bite at the famous Phillips Seafood, located at the iconic harbour.

It was so walkable staying at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel and it only took me a short 6 minute walk to the seafood restaurant. Quite honestly, you can’t miss this restaurant as it’s located in the same old brick wall building with a large sign that shows “Hard Rock Cafe” and beneath it was the big “Phillips Seafood” signage.

This restaurant had an outdoor patio as well as inside dining with air con, since it’s scorching hot outside, I opted to sit inside the bar. The bar area had about 10 seat countertop and then a bunch of other bar high stool area.

If you want to sit in a proper dining table with more comfy seats, there is a massive dining area with different sections.

The friendly staff handed me the food menu and drinking menu. Since I hadn’t have much food, I didn’t want to drink any alcohol plus I am going to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery after, so stocking up on food would be my priority.

Since Baltimore is located in Maryland, its crabs would be its forte, so I opted to order a cup of cream of crab and a soft shell crab sandwich that comes with fries.

The cream of crab was what I needed, pipping hot soup with ample amount of crab meat, they even put crab meat at the centre to ensure you see the crab meat. They also came with a small bag of crackers which I luv the crunch and the texture that works so well with the soup.

Then, came the soft shell crab sandwich with some nice fries. I don’t know how they make it but the fries was super crunchy and seemed to have a double crispy taste to it.

When I opened the top burger bun, I could see the entire crispy soft shell crab with it. It’s crispy, crunchy and the sauce that came with it was just on-point.

The pricing of the food could be slightly on the pricier side but you get what you pay for, a restaurant located right at the heart of the tourist attraction and the harbour, but you get great service, good meal and it saves me an Uber ride since I just walked from my hotel and it saves me time.

I would definitely come back to Phillips Seafood in the near future and order other food items.
