Today is November 11th, it’s Remembrance Day!
Every year on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.
Today, my colleague and I wore our winter jackets, walked to the Old City Hall, standing at an intersection that was blocked off for us to stand and paid our respect to those who served and protected this beautiful country called “Canada“.
If you have never attend a Remembrance Day Ceremony, I highly recommend you to attend in person. It’s a precious experience, to see all the war veterans, to hear all the speeches. Some of the most memorable memories for me were when airplanes flew above the Old City Hall as a sign of respect to those that fought and served for this country. Another memory that I will never forget was when thousands of Canadians stood together and sang the National Anthem “O Canada” and paid our respect in a 2-minute of silence while the bell ranged at the Old City Hall. The “In Flenders Fields” poem were read by presenters. Every time, it makes me feel how lucky we are living in a country that gives us hope, peace, freedom and the ability to be who we want to be and how we want to live our lives.
