I am a proud Asian, born in Hong Kong, China and immigrated to Toronto, Canada which I call home ever since. I am so grateful and thankful to be living in a city and country that is multicultural and have the opportunity to learn other cultures.

May 1 to May 31 of every year, it’s “Asian Heritage Month” around the world. It is a time to reflect on and recognize the many contributions that Asians have made and continue to make from around the world.

Now, when you think of the term “Asian”, it’s not only restricted to Chinese, it includes a broad of people and communities. Asian includes, includes people of East Asian origin (e.g., China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan), South Asian origin (e.g., India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), Southeast Asian origin (e.g., Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam), West Asian origin (e.g., Armenia, Iran, Turkey, Lebanon), and Central Asian origin (e.g., Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan).

I am proud of who I am and I am #VeryAsian!

MoVernie FUN FACT: Did you know….that I can still read, speak, listen and write Chinese? I do vlogs and videos in both Cantonese and English. I am proud of my roots and heritage and I figure if I can speak the language, I should use it and keep it and not get rusty.

MoVernie QUESTION: What language do you speak?
