Beertown Public House – Toronto, Ontario, Canada

There are a number of locations for Beertown Public House. There is one located in Barrie, Ontario, where my buddy lives. My other friend said she went to the Oakville location, which is conveniently located beside the Oakville GO Station.

The Toronto location is recently just opened, located at the downtown Toronto intersection between University Avenue and Wellington Street West. This is a perfect spot for people who wants to pre-drink or fill up their tummies before they head to a Raptors/Leafs/Jays game. Tonight, there was a Jays game as they are fighting for the wild card playoff spot against the New York Yankees.

The Beertown in this location is a decent size, it’s not big per say but does the job. The only drawback is its lack of patio space as the patio is located at another spot outside the business building. Anyhow, our hostess guided us to a very quiet spot with curtains beside it, we like the spot, it’s a bit more private and quiet to allow us to chat.

This is Oktoberfest month, so they are doing some special promotion with beer and Oktoberfest food items such as sausage, schnitzel and pretzel. And they have my favourite Germany beer that is fresh off the tap during this Oktoberfest promotion which may not normally be available. It brought back all the memories when I was at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany back in 2017.

They have Erdinger, Hofbräu Lager and Paulaner. Trust me, there is never a bad Germany beer, they are all delicious. For the time limited offer, you can get a 1L of the German beer plus taking the glass stein home at $19.99. But if you don’t want to bring the stein home, it’s $15.99. I have so many steins at home that there is no need for me to get another one. If you can’t drink that much beer but still want to try the German beer, you can get the 20 oz at $9.69. So, there are quite many options.

As we used our smartphone QR scan code app, I realized how many food items Beertown Public House offers. It has a variety of food items from soup, salads, sandwiches to burgers to fish n chips, pad thai to beef brisket and wings. Typical pub food but I appreciate the variety. And the price are very reasonable and fair especially for downtown restaurants.

There are flat screen TVs located along the walls of the entire space so patrons can watch and cheer on their teams. Plexiglass are located everywhere to separate groups to maintain physical distancing.

NOTE: Just a friendly reminder that with the latest Provincial Health & Safety that the hostess checked for my vaccination passport plus my driver’s license as proof of ID to ensure I am the right person for the passport before letting us in. They are doing their jobs and following the guidelines. So, please remember to bring your ID and your proof of vaccination passport.

We ordered the following drinks to start off the evening: The Rasberry Lemonade and 1L of Hofbräu Lager German beer. We also ordered the pretzels + dip to as shareable. There are 6 baked pretzels with warm cheese + beer dip and house mustard.

Then we ordered the pad thai with shrimp (you can choose chicken or beer as meat if you prefer) and the Beertown BIG burger that comes with 2 fresh ground beef patties, smoked bacon, cheddar, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, toasted sesame bun. Since this burger doesn’t come with onions and I luv onions, our server had kindly accommodated to add onions to my burger with no extra charge. I appreciate that. For the sides, I opted for truffle fries at an extra cost of $1.99 but it’s worth it. I luv truffle everything.

Overall, the vibe is nice, it’s a perfect spot to watch sports game on their TVs or pre-drink before heading to a sports game or a musical or concert. Definitely lots of variety of food items and beverages to choose from and the quality of food are pretty good. My burger was massive, juicy and nicely assembled.
