UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, who had defeated Anderson Silva from the last fight, had a remtach tonight in Vegas.
This match was re-scheduled to allow Anderson Silva a chance of redemption after he underestimated Chris from the last match. This rematch also allows Chris Weidman the chance to beat Anderson Silva once again fair and square and getting more respect from the UFC fans. Both fighters had their own goals in this fight.
As Anderson Silva walked into the Octagon, you could see a different approach from him. He was focused, he was collected & really think seriously on the game plan he was going to use to beat Chris Weidman.
Chris Weidman, always patriotic, came in with his USA flag wrapped around him. He was calm and focused as well.
This fight was shown in the pay-per-view main event and both fighters got some heavy punches and kicks on each other in the first round of the fight. There were some heavy punches by Chris that almost knock out Anderson stone cold, especially with a heavy right handed punch to the right side of the Silva’s cheekface and ear drum. But Silva recovered and played out the first round.
In the second round, a few punches were thrown again between the two sides BUT unfortunately, the fight ended early and unexpectedly when Anderson Silva suffered a second-round TKO loss after a checked kick resulted in a broken leg.

Chris Weidman, has again STILL the champ and this time, he won it fairly and squarely. Clearly, we could see Chris was even more well-equipped. He worked on this ground work and worked on his defense with better precision game plan. His confidence level was sky high, coming in with a more focused fight. This kid has a long good career ahead of him. He is going to fight against Victor Belfort in his next match.
Anderson Silva, will take a long time to recover such devastating injury. UFC168 will possibly mark the last UFC match by Silva and ending his career. I wish him a fast recovery and thank him for his contribution and a great career he had in the UFC industry.
