The weather began with some cloudy and grey in the morning but the sun began to show up as the afternoon turns around for the Main Event at this year’s 2024 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto.
Colton Herta dominated the entire race from start to finish and finished first place. Congrats!
Moments after Colton’s race car passed the finish line, he made some nice donuts near the Princes’ Gate as a sign of celebration.
The race did took a long delay at lap 75 when there was a 3-car accident at a tight turn corner, resulting in a 3-car crash that required a long clean up. As soon as the remaining few laps resume, Colton took home the winner!
During the Post Race Press Conference, Colton touches on the fact that it took him and his team 2 years before he went on the podium again finishing 1st place. He said over the 2 years, his team believes in him, he believes in himself, he knows they have built a solid car, had many pole positions, some top finishes but haven’t got back to the 1st place until today.
He said it was a sigh of relief, he is grateful and thankful to have that winning feeling once again.
Colton did mentioned that his team have great expertise and engineering where his car is meant for street courses. His ride dominates on street circuit vs closed course circuits.
Colton said he won’t have time to celebrate this victory as he is flying out of Toronto to Indiana later tonight. But after a few days, he would have time to celebrate and sink everything in. There will be a few weeks break and his team are looking forward to spending time with their loved ones. Meanwhile, Colton can’t wait to get back into racing as soon as possible to build on the momentum.
Once again, congrats to Colton Herta and hopefully, he doesn’t have to wait long to get back to the podium and be on top finishes in the near future.
