With the Province of Ontario moving back to the Lockdown Stage 2 restrictions, that means there will be no in-person dine-in allowed starting today on January 4, 2022. So, before the dine-in ban, me and my buddy, Hank decided to have a nice supper one last time before the ban. Thus, yesterday, we went to Daldongnae for some nice authentic Korean BBQ.
Daldongnae is so popular that it has 4 locations in just a span of a few blocks in North York alone. Furthermore to the 4 locations in the North York area, they also have one in Scarborough and one in Mississauga location and they also have a location in Montreal, Quebec. We opted to dine at “North York 1”, which is the 6034 Yonge Street location (which is near Yonge and Cummer location).
The location of this Daldongnae looks like a cute little house from the outside but surprisingly, as you walked inside, it is relatively decent size inside, the narrow hallway leads to 2 decent sized sections. Each side has tables for 2, tables that could takes up to 4-6 people.
You can also dine outside (during this latest lockdown, you can dine outside). We sat outdoor coz there was a lineup if we wait for inside table. And we were surprised how warm dining outside was coz although it’s outside dining, it had a good setup to keep patrons warm. First of all, they had a roof and ventilation to pump warm air to the outdoor tables. Plus, they have portable heaters everywhere to keep everyone warm. Also, when you are cooking and enjoying the sizzling Korean BBQ, the food itself keeps you warm, so I recommend patio seating if you are ok with handling some chills but still decently warm.
This is why I luv Korean cuisine so much coz once you dine and eat Korean food, you will never walk out the restaurant hungry. That applies to every Korean restaurants that I been to from around the world. Their side dishes alone will feed you and when you ask for refill, you will always get fed properly.

We ordered an order of pork belly and beef tenderloin, when it arrived on the wooden plate, you know it’s high quality meat. Although it’s not all-you-can-eat (AYCE), it’s enough food. Sometimes for me, it’s really depends on the day, sometimes I am super hungry, I will go to an all-you-can-eat but sometimes I just want high quality eat and don’t need AYCE.
We also ordered an order of the seafood pancake. Pancake is so thin, crispy and fluffy light, super delicious with mini shrimps and squid blended with chives and other veggies, it’s super filling and delicious.
And the side dishes are yummy plus the grilled garlic, kimchi for lettuce wrap for the meat when it’s ready. Also, the cheese sweet corn and egg on the side of the grill are perfect to eat with a bowl of steamy rice.
It was so satisfying to dine-in at Daldongnae and will definitely come back again when dine-in once again allowed in the near future. If you are looking for authentic Korean BBQ experience, Daldongnae is definitely one of the top choices. Let’s hope this dine-in ban doesn’t last too long.
