Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge) – Frankfurt, Germany (Frankfurt am Main)

The Eiserner Steg, also known as the “Iron bridge“, is the ONLY walking bridge (allows pedestrian and no vehicles) which connects the centre of Frankfurt with the district of Sachsenhausen. This bridge has undergone many transitions throughout its history. It was first built in the year of 1868. It was then replaced in 1911/1912 by a slightly larger bridge which stretches 170 metres long.

I highly recommend anyone to take a slow walk on this bridge as you can get some nice breeze and also a perfect spot to observe the ships that sails along this river. Also, you can check out a number of buildings from a far by just standing on this bridge. It’s a perfect view for taking pictures and selfies.

Moreover, for the romantic lovers, this bridge is also called the “Frankfurt’s love lock bridge“, it’s a perfect experience if you are there with your loved ones. Along the rails of the bridge, some locals and tourists love to put their romantic locks on it as a symbol of long lasting relationships. If you believe that type of stuff, this is definitely the spot for you!
