When we were on our Euro cruise trip, one of the ports was La Coruña, Spain. During our free time, we decided to go to one of the very well-known restaurants “El De Alberto” for a tasting menu brunch. The food reviews on the TripAdvisor indicated that El De Alberto is a very high quality with amazing culinary skills. The restaurant provides a la carte but we opted for tasting menu brunch and informed the server to surprise us with the food items that best represents the local city as well as the chefs.
After tasting all the food items from appetizers, entree to dessert, every item were impressive. Fresh ingredients with great use of the chefs’ culinary skills and excellent customer service. If it was me to determine it’s quality, I definitely think El De Alberto is Michelin rated worthy. I hope they will get at least a star in the near future.

Welcome to El De Alberto, located in La Coruna, Spain
NOTE: The menu is in Spanish only, so I suggest you to ask the servers for their translation or recommendations. They speak good English and also have good knowledge of their food as many of them work here since Day 1 of the restaurant opening.
Restaurant isn’t super big but that’s what’s make it special and cozy. It’s modern, clean, simple and relaxing.
You could see paintings hanged on the walls throughout the entire restaurant that were made by local artists about city life of La Coruna.
The prices on the food items are very reasonable. Appetizer/Shareable ranges around $10 EURO. Main course ranges around $20 EURO.
Starting with a bottle of white wine.
I am usually not a bread person but these breads were freshly baked, crispy outside and extra soft inside. I ate 2 of these, that’s how much I love them.
I was never a fan of sardine but this sardine prepared at El De Alberto was phenomenal, it’s fresh and you won’t smell the weird aroma you usually get in sardines. They did a great job to minimize that.
Scallops in their shells.
Close up on the scallops, tasty & fresh.
Lobster croquette. This plate is just $10 EURO. Good value especially it’s lobster inside.
Closer look of what’s inside the lobster croquette.
This is the minced tomato. I would never imagine I would order a veggie dish especially just a tomato. But this was by far the most impressive and unique dish for me. Lots of work required by the chef. The skin was peeled gingerly outside the tomato.
Just let the good times roll, ordering a second bottle, this time, we want red wine.
Fresh catch of the day with curry saffron with broccoli and enoki mushrooms as the main entree dish.
Braised pork cheeks with veggies such as potatoe, broccoli and enoki mushroom.
This dessert is a work of art. Just like a pastel palettes. Too pretty!
Once the fork dig inside, the creamy stuff comes out, every component works so well in this item. I am not even really a dessert person and I enjoyed it alot.
Fresh fruit sorbet along with the nice texture of candies component in this dish. The best part? Only $6 EURO for this. Check out the props they use for each dish, the plate presentation is off the roof! When I saw this dessert, the sorbet, the ingredients being used and the presentation? It reminds me of the amazing dessert prepared back home in Toronto by Executive Chef Romain Avril from Lavelle.
