I Love Pho 2 – Beef Rib Backbone Rice Noodle Soup – Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

I love Pho 2 is a casual, family friendly Vietnamese restaurant. And we pretty sure can confirm that the I love Pho 1 is a success in order for a 2nd location to happen.

No pun intended, I LUV Pho! It’s my #1 comfort food if the weather is super cold or I drank alot the night before or something. The broth just soak up all the alcohol. Plus it’s flavorful, tasty and economical. You eat like a king.

But during this visit, I have decided to switch it up and order this large rib backbone with rice noodle soup. They offer a mini tablet for the patrons to scroll and check out the food menu. And rib backbone is #200 on the food menu. I usually like order “House Special Pho” everywhere I go coz it includes everything, pretty much all the beef parts. However, not every Vietnamese offers rib backbone as an option.

Only a large size is being offered for this rib backbone and it’s $16.45 CDN + tax, which is not bad. There are many new Vietnamese resto currently want to hype up some rib backbone and bone marrow and upsell the bowl of pho to $26 to $30 CDN a bowl, which is highway robbery since these beef parts don’t cost much. Rib backbone doesn’t cost much and bone marrow is pretty cheap. So, don’t get fooled by the gimmick at other places.

When the rib backbone arrives, I didn’t know it comes with beef tripe, beef tendon and beef balls. These are my favourite food items in a pho as well coz in the menu, it didn’t mention it, so I thought it’s only including the rib backbone.

Oh man! This is a big portion. It came with 2 giant rib backbones, then large bowl of rice noodles, broth and the aforementioned beef parts. I have to say that they offered lots more beef stripes, beef tendons than other places. 2 beef balls, however, are on point with other restaurants serving.

MoVernie TIP: I prefer to take out both of the rib backbone on a plate and then put in all the bean sprouts into the broth. It’s super hard to eat if you have 2 giant bones obstructing the noodles and broth.

I would prefer the meat on the rib backbone to be more tender and fall off the bone as I still have to use a bit of pressure from my chopstix to peel the meat off the bone, nevertheless, it was still not bad.

MoVernie TIP: Put some spicy hot sauce such as sriracha sauce on the backbone, you will enjoy it very much!

Overall, I enjoyed this rib backbone rice noodle soup. I may order here and there, or share one ribbone with someone else so I am not overly full.

I highly recommend this food item and at $16.45 CDN, it’s pretty good price proposition.

Good service. Friendly staff! And I enjoyed those music videos that they play on the giant screen to keep me entertained. LOL
