KaKa All You Can Eat is a well-established Japanese restaurant serving high quality Japanese food from torched sushi to sashimi and other top notch food items at its first location at First Markham Place in Markham, Ontario.
With its success and support by the foodies, KaKa is opening its 2nd location tentatively in early March of 2018. And this time, it’s at the downtown location. It’s located at the intersection of Bay Street and Elm Street, which is very accessible by TTC, by car or by Greyhound bus (terminal is just across the street), which is perfect for peeps who lives out of town.
This is definitely great news for downtown peeps such as myself who works and lives in the downtown core. I was delighted to be invited to the KaKa Media Tasting Event, getting a chance to take a tour and try the food and drinks menu.
In the downtown core, there aren’t many Japanese all you can eat places, most restaurants prefer to stick with the a la carte style. Foodies nowadays have expectations so they are bored, sick & tired of below average sushi quality at other all you can eat places. Thus, I strongly think KaKa is filling the void in the downtown area, serving high quality food and drinks at reasonable price in an all you can eat format. Just think of gold flakes sushi? I doubt they are being served at other all you can eat places, but it’s being served at KaKa.
During the media event, I got to see how torched sushi were made. In particular, there was a sushi that had eel on top with gold flakes. Yes, gold flakes are edible and I got to see the special technique of putting gold flakes onto each sushi piece with precision. Wine, craft beer and sake cocktails were served throughout the entire evening. Lots of fresh ingredients and the sushi are made properly and with care and passion by the sushi chefs. I am a craft beer lover, in particular, they served Wellington Brewery, it’s tasty and flavourful, and best part? Wellington Brewery is from Guelph, Ontario. I always prefer to shop local, eat local and support local whenever I can, so I highly recommend you to order a pint of Wellington Brewery.
The KaKa management has informed me that tentatively, the downtown location should be opened early March. But I recommend you to check back here often or follow me on Instagram @RealMoVernie to check out when KaKa is officially open to the public.
