Korea House is located conveniently in Korea Town of Christie, Toronto. I walked by this place many times but didn’t dine there until recently.
Once you walked in, it has a nice cool unique ambience that feels like home. It’s casual dining. Staff is friendly and provided good service.
Just like many Korean restaurants, they offer complimentary side dishes, they are super delish.
I ordered the spicy beef tofu stew. This is where the problem was. I could smell the beef not fresh, super frozen, you know those meats where you want to defrozt? The defrozt smell and I could taste the frozen beef. Usually, the spicy sauce or broth should cover the smell, but I could still taste the smell and taste of the frozen beef.
If you wonder, yes, I expect meat to be frozen if not fresh, which is fine, but I just don’t know how long these beef has been stayed frozen to the point that after they defrost it, I can still smell and taste it. I usually don’t like to waste food, I left most of the beef and just drink up the broth and the tofu.
If you ask me why I didn’t complain while I was dining there, it’s a small mama papa shop, is it to the point that I can’t eat the whole thing? I can eat the broth, tofu, side dishes and rice and call it a day as I don’t want to ask them to cook another one coz the end goal will be the same if they keep using the same frozen beef even if I ask for another one. There is no point.
I just either will order something else next time or never come back here.
Otherwise, this place is a cool place to dine with interesting decor.
