We drove by the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and we decided to stop by and check out the surrounding areas. One of the best perks visiting small towns is that they offer free parking. That’s a huge plus when you know, you know, especially if you live in downtown big cities.
So we parked at a big parking lot that is situated right across the Latcham Hall. We crossed the road and check out the area. Latcham Hall is a community centre. Beside it is a nice baseball diamond. Let me tell you, I have checked out numerous baseball field, but not many community-run baseball fields has as such a nice structure as Latcham Hall. Located right behind the home plate are the bleachers where families and parents can watch their kids play. There are safety nets located behind the home plate to protect foul balls from hitting anyone. Better yet, they have a steel roof that stretches and cover the entire home plate area. Rain or shine, the spectators are in good hands. I have not seen many baseball fields that have a nice steel roof. This is impressive.
Furthermore, beside the baseball field, there is a park area called the “Sangster Grove“, a nice creek with water flowing along the river. And there is a Stouffville Lawn Bowling Club beside the baseball field. And as you walk back to the Main Street, you will see the Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment and the historic Stouffville Clock Tower. This is quite a community in this block of the area.
