Media Day – Canadian International AutoShow – Metro Convention Centre (MTCC) – North & South Buildings

Today is Media Day for the 2023 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS 2023).  As you probably know, I luv cars! I luv driving them! I just have a passion. This year is truly special since the show got cancelled during the pandemic. After 3 years of waiting, the in-person event is back!

I luv Media Day as it’s one of my favourite events of the year! The BEST part for me on Media Day is when the organizer always treat the media very well. They will serve breakfast and beverages. They are super accommodating.

My favourite part? I luv it when there is no crowd, no one hovering the vehicles that you want to see. You can roam around all brands and exhibits and no one is really there to block you or stopping you from filming your next YouTube videos or taking photos. It’s so relax and nice. Best yet, most of these vehicles are unlocked and allow the media to go inside, take some pics and BRoll and I am talking about vehicles that could cost alot and not open to the public. I recalled sitting into a McLaren before. That was truly memorable.

The Media Day kicked off with a “Welcome Speech” from the organizer at the Canadian International AutoShow. Followed by a car company who paid prime money to secure the spot to showcase their latest new model or global debut or a new company that needs as much media attention as they get. This year was no exception with the Canadian debut of “Project Arrow”, a concept electric vehicle totally built in Canada using Canadian auto parts and built by Canadians.

Better yet, 2023 is Canadian International AutoShow 50th Anniverary! What a milestone! Congrats!

And the morning introductory presentation ended with the announcement of the 2023 Car of the Year and 2023 Utility Vehicle of the Year. And the winners are…..

Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) – Car of the Year – BMW i4

Congratulations to BMW for winning this award! It’s super special as it’s the ONLY European vehicle that was chosen for its category to compete for this prestige award this year.

Moreover, this BMW i4 is very deserving as I test drove this electric vehicle myself early of last year and I already mentioned in my MoVernie BLOG that this BMW i4 is stylish, great performance and handling and the price brings value as a great electric vehicle option. You can read my MoVernie BLOG here about my summary and feedback after test driving this BMW i4 last year.

Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) – Utility Vehicle of the Year – IONIQ 5

Although I didn’t have a chance to test drive this electric vehicle, I am sure this is a well-deserving winning for Hyundai. Hyundai has continues to built and bring out innovative and stylish vehicles to the consumers. And this IONIQ clearly pave the wave for more Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles to come. The proven drive-ability, reliability and innovative IONIQ 5 allows the consumers to know how advance and how much Hyundai designers and their engineers have came to develop high quality electric vehicles.

Congrats to BMW Canada and Hyundai Canada for these two major AJAC awards that was announced today at the Media Day!
