MoVernie x Destination Markham Collaboration

MoVernie 1st MISSION: On the MOVE checking out this charity car & bike show called “Steering for Steer Friends” that was held this afternoon (August 13, 2022) at the Markham Fairgrounds.

It’s such a beautiful sunny day to walk around and do something with my family. As we drove to the entrance at the Markham Fairgrounds, the friendly staff gave us instructions on where to park. There were plenty of lawn parking spaces for us to park for free.

Signages were everywhere to guide us towards the entrance. There was the ticket booth and once we showed our tickets, it was smooth entry. And we began to check out all the vehicles. There were many different sections around the venue to showcase the vehicles. There were motorcycles on display but mainly classic cars dominated the various areas.

Many of these classic vehicles were built before I was born so I had to research them just to get me up to speed. However, my dad seemed to recognize some of these rides, including the MG convertible and Buick Grand National. We were amazed how mint conditions many of these rides were and many were modified visually and with their engines as well.

There was also a fire truck with people demonstrating how they would rescue people who are trapped in a car accident. It was quite interesting to watch the techniques being applied from the people at Markham Professional Firefighter Association.

In particular, as we walked into an indoor section featuring more classics, we saw a very nice white Chevrolet Corvette convertible. It looked so damn good!

Another vehicle that I found interesting was this ride shown in the video below. Noticed there was an internal cabin at the front with an outdoor bench at the back. Did some peeps prefer to sit at the back outside to enjoy the constellation sky? Or were the peeps interested to maintain physical distancing? We wouldn’t know.

At the show, this vehicle named “Packard Clipper” intrigued me the most. I have never heard of this model before. It looked so elegant, and the interior was luxurious and so futuristic. If you tell me this is a new model from an auto manufacturer, I would believe that.

At the event, there was also some Japanese rides on display, from the classic Acura NSX, Mazda MX-5 to Subaru Impreza.

It was also a very rare sight to see the old popo vehicles that were used back in the 80s and 90s, the iconic Chevrolet Caprice.

There were also the brand new Chevrolet Bolt, all-electric vehicles on display. So, there was a good mix of past, present and future vehicles at this event.

And of course, there were entertainment including live band, raffle prizes and food trucks on premise for people to purchase food and beverages.

My dad enjoyed posing with this race car provided by Honda Indy.

All-in-all, it was so cool to attend an in-person event on a beautiful summer day, especially this event is for a good cause. Thank you to Destination Markham for the Mission, or else I wouldn’t know about this event.
