Pho Ben – Vietnamese Restaurant – Houston, Texas, USA [HOUSTON TRAVEL SERIES]

Vietnamese is the 2nd largest Asian population in Houston, Texas, so there is no way I wouldn’t visit a Vietnamese restaurant coz I know I will find good Vietnamese food in Houston.

On the MOVE to Pho Ben. This place is super modern, clean, very chic and classy to enjoy Vietnamese cuisine. I was impressed of how massive this restaurant is.

MoVernie TIP: If you have never had pho before, what you do is…add the bean sprouts and sprinkled it on top of the broth, let the hot broth soak up the bean sprouts so that it remains crunchy and not fully soggy boiled. Also, add some lime juice into the broth (personally, I don’t do that as I prefer to keep the broth as organic as possible without any liquid sauce to alter its flavour, but that’s a personal preference. Additionally, rip a few leaves off the stalk to add some refreshing natural flavour). Bon Appetit!

At Pho Ben, I ordered a “Large” size beef pho special. Not bad at $9 USD a bowl.

In particular, I was amazed with the chewy, juicy tender meat of the flank with a layer of thin layer of fat on it. I always like to order the “Pho Special” at every pho place if they offer it as it provides a variety of different beef parts. They usually include rare beef, cooked beef, beef tripe, beef tendon, beef brisket, beef flank and beef balls. Every item is so delicious. And for me, the broth is the most important component of a bowl of pho. The chef normally used beef bones and other parts and boiled the broth for more than 24 hours to bring the best flavour out of the broth.

So good! So pho!

MoVernie FUN FACT: Did you know….pho is my #1 comfort food whenever I am tipsy or just super hungry? The broth soaks up the alcohol and the big bowl of noodles at reasonable price makes me eat like a KING!

FYI – Due to popular demand, Pho Ben has opened up a 2nd location at Westcott, Sugarland. Congrats to Pho Ben to continue to expand and serve its communities!
