Santa Claus Parade – Madoc, Ontario, Canada [ONTARIO TRAVEL SERIES]

One of the main reasons that we came to visit Madoc, Ontario was to cover its annual Santa Claus Parade.

Madoc & District Chamber of Commerce along with partners, B.I.T., Madoc Lions Club and The Kiwanis clubs would like to invite the local residents to join them on Saturday November 27, 2021 at 4:00 PM for this special Santa Claus Drive-Thru event. This year’s theme is an Olde Fashion Christmas.

Prior to the pandemic, the parade was held at Madoc Main Street and people gathered along the streets to watch the floats go by.

But due to the pandemic and to avoid crowds while maintain maintaining physical distancing, the Town of Madoc shifted gears and decided to change the method. Instead of having floats, they setup display and exhibits as drive-thru at the Madoc Fairgrounds.

So, the sponsors, local businesses, communities organizations can decorate their own displays along the pathway at the fairgrounds. To spice up the event a little bit more, the organizer will evaluate which displays is the best looking one, most creative one, most original one and will win a grand prize.

For a small fee, families drive their own vehicles in a Drive-Thru format along the path and watch each station, exhibit & decorated floats.

It’s super refreshing and joyful to listen to Christmas carols, Christmas themed floats and people saying, “Merry Christmas”.

It was a huge lineup of vehicles wanting to experience and support this drive-thru. It’s incredible to see the local people support its communities and supporting one another especially during this pandemic! Respect!

So….Santa is here, got out of his sleigh and greeted everyone in the comfort of their vehicles. It was nice to see Santa at the end of the drive-thru asking the kids if they are naughty or nice this past year and he waved the attendees in their vehicles a good bye.

There is a contest for the best decorated float. In particular, I was super impressed with the tree removal company that had a Grinch standing up on top of the ladder waving to the people in their vehicles.

I also like the Hidden Goldmine Bakery setup with people dressing up as cookies & milk cartons was pretty sweet. They even put on an old classic pickup truck. The fire department also have a nice display and handing out gifts to passerby vehicles wishing them a “Merry Christmas and a safe Happy Holidays”. I wonder who won the display contest? I have to ask the Madoc & District Chamber of Commerce to find out. Stay tuned!

What a way to finish our visit at Madoc, Ontario eh? Now that we finished covering this annual Santa Claus Parade event in Madoc, Ontario, it’s time to say good bye and head back to home in Toronto.

Special shoutout to the Madoc Chamber of Commerce of having us and it was lovely to meet the locals and getting to explore and learn more about this Township with a Heart of GOLD!
