On the way to North Bay, Ontario as part of my “Ontario Travel Series“, the locals recommend us to make a quick stop along the way to check out the artistic “Screaming Heads” in Burk’s Falls and it didn’t disappoint.
This is definitely a hidden gem! Driving from downtown Toronto to North Bay takes about 3.5 hours drive. So, making a stop at the Screaming Heads (2.5 hours from Toronto), located in the village of Burk’s Falls makes sense and worthwhile.
These Screaming Heads are arts and stones made by a retired art teacher who wants to make his own residence a fun, unique and artistic property. Although this is a private property, with a suggested donation to help maintain this theme land, the public can visit this incredible place.
You can park your vehicle in its big property. Explore the artwork outside his residence and walk around different sections of its huge land to pose and take photos of his artwork. Everything is outdoors and not much crowd, you are able to enjoy the walk and maintain physical distancing. On special occasions, they even have their own kiosk to sell artwork and cool gifts.
NOTE: I would like to thank the owner for his generosity to allow the public to explore and roam around his property. Many peeps will just keep their things private. However, please respect his privacy, don’t be rowdy and respect his artwork and keep property clean so that he will continue to open this place up for others to enjoy.
This is a hidden gem that I have never heard before but it’s definitely very photogenic and I think it would be even more cooler during Halloween to roam around this mysterious place. You will feel like you are walking into a film set.
