St. John’s International Airport (YYT) – Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada

I was visiting St. John’s, Newfoundland to attend the special media event of the newest Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, located inside the St. John’s International Airport (YYT). So, I got a chance to check out what this airport has to offer.

My 1st impression? This St. John’s International Airport isn’t super big, but it is of adequate size and does its job. Sometimes I like smaller airport like St. John’s coz it’s a pain to walk long distance when I visit the big airports. Those huge international airports sometimes led me to get lost easily with so many entrances and exits. That’s not the case here at St. John’s International Airport, there are plenty of signage to guide the passengers and it’s easy to comprehend.

It is just a short walk from the gate to the baggage claim. I also have to say, lineups are shorter which also means your check-in and security check points time are much shorter. Let me add that the airport is super clean, modern and organized. Just imagine there are tons of seats where you exit the airport, so your family and friends could wait for your arrival with the comfy seats.

There are also kids area for children to play while waiting to board their flights. There are art work from local artists that showcase Newfoundland and Labrador throughout the entire airport.

If you come to the airport early for your flight, if you are qualify and have access to the newest Maple Leaf Lounge, I highly recommend you to maximize your experience to check out the lounge, it’s so chic, beautiful and brand new. If you don’t have access to the Maple Leaf Lounge, not to worry, go dine or grab a beer flight from the Yellowbelly Brewery. You can’t miss it as it’s located literally right where you entered the departure area after you took the escalator up. However, if you do want to visit the actual restaurant, it’s located in the downtown core of St. John’s on Water Street. But if you don’t have time to go out of the airport to visit the brewery since you are doing a connecting flight, you can still enjoy its craft beer inside the airport.
