Coffee lovers, Starbucks has opened its 1st Pick-Up only store in Canada. It’s located at 25 King Street West, Toronto, Canada, at the PATH Level, located inside the Commerce Court.
As I walked there to check it out, it’s a small unit and relatively quieter vibe compared to the typical crowded and noisy Starbucks shops. It’s a simple store where you go and pickup your order. There is no seat in section.
Here is how it works at Starbucks Pick-Up.
- You download the Starbucks app
- Place your order ahead of time (be at your home or office)
- Come and pick up your order
That’s it! That’s all you need to do.
Apparently, the 1st ever Starbucks Pick-Up Store in the world is located in New York City. In order for a pick-up shop to work, it needs to be located at a high traffic area where people are busy and don’t need to sit down and have no time to hang around. In my opinion, it’s for people who are busy and tech sarvy in using an app to place an order. I think with high rent cost in any downtown city, a smaller operating space will be ideal for pick-up store like this.
What do you think? Do you think there is a need for pick-up store? Do you think Starbucks Pick-Up Store will succeed?
Let me know your thoughts.
