The Bay – Guys Night Out

Wait, did you just say “open bar” at The Bay? The retail store? Yup, that’s exactly what I said. Hosting events with various beverages companies, catering services and retail stores are the latest trends of cross-promoting each other’s products & services. And this type of events allows the customers to a whole-new experience. For example, I was invited to a Chivas Regal event last week at UpCountry furniture store. It’s a huge store with various showrooms where I can sip my scotch but also get to know the products the store is selling. You have to understand, you are basically spending hours of your time at the venue, so you will have time to know the products and services the venue has to offer.

So, The Bay wanted to showcase its fall men’s clothing collection at its flagship location (Yonge & Queen). So, the theme was “Guy’s Night Out”. The moment you stepped on the men’s section, you can hear various DJs spinning different music, sending different vibes at different parts of the store. Along the way, plenty of beverage stations serving you different drinks. From beer (Stella Artois & Heineken) to red & white wine to scotch and special signature cocktail drinks. To top that off, hors d’oeuvre were being served everywhere. I got venison roll, jumbo shrimps, pulled-pork mini burgers, just to name a few.

As I strolled along different sections, there were also various contests which you can win prizes. There were mini-golf put, ping-pong competition, etc.

But last but not least, the main special feature, Toronto Raptors Andrea Bargnani & Jose Calderon, as usual, dressing classy with nice suits came to greet their fans and signing autographs. Both recognized me and said “Hi” to me. Andrea recognized me because of my interview with him at the Pizza Pizza event.

Just imagine you are sipping a bottle of Heineken and shopping at TopMan? That’s what I did, I bought a nice blazer for my company’s holiday dinner. But I am going to make my blazer a secret for now.
