GUEST CONTRIBUTORS: Cole Kent and Byron Kent

Are you sick and tired of the winter blues and cold winter here in Canada?

Looking for somewhere warm to fly during this winter? Perhaps The Florida Keys is the place to be.

Our MoVernie SPIES are enjoying all the sunshine and outdoor activities at The Florida Keys.

First stop, The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory was opened in 2003. It is a butterfly park that houses from 50 to 60 different species of live butterflies from around the world in a climate-controlled, glass-enclosed habitat.

The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory was a great way to see the butterflies from around the world, as well as seeing two flamingos and some really cool colourful birds. The butterflies were all beautifully flying within the glass-enclosed environment that we got to get up close to see them along the pathway that we were guided throughout the venue.

However, make sure you don’t accidentally have these butterflies attach on your hats or your clothes when you leave. Take a closer look and inspect your belongings before you make your exit as many of these species are precious and it’s an offense if these specifies escaped the premise with you.

There is a very nice gift shop at the conservatory that you can purchase cool gifts with you and bring home. Trust me, it’s worth your visit!

MoVernie TIP: While you are in the area, perhaps after visiting the conservatory, you can walk over to check out the Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.A. It’s only a 2-minute walk from the conversatory.

Special thank you to @thefloridakeys & @lmacommunications.

MoVernie FUN FACT: Did you know….that January 21, 2023 is Key West Butterfly Conservatory’s 20th Birthday? Congratulations on the milestone and it’s a special day. For more INFO about the 20th Birthday Party celebration, please click here.
