Toronto Raptors Fired Head Coach Nick Nurse

Today, before Raptors President Masai Ujiri address the media, he has announced that the Toronto Raptors have fired head coach Nick Nurse, who has 1 year remaining on his current contract.

Quite honestly, this doesn’t come any surprise to me as news have been brewing for the past few weeks on the whether Nick Nurse will remain with the team or parting ways.

Nick Nurse was an Assistant Coach of the Raptors for 5 years before he got promoted to replace Dwane Casey as the head coach for another 5 years, winning the franchise 1st ever NBA Championship back in 2019.

Rumour has it that Nick Nurse maybe taking the vacant job in Houston. Personally, I don’t see that coming for Nick. Nick will be in high demand but I just don’t see him coaching on a rebuilding young team in Houston. Instead, I see Nick is more fitted to coach for a contending team that needs a new voice and coaching ideas to elevate the existing roster of a team to the next level to win the chip. Hiring Nick on a rebuilding team that is years and years away don’t make sense in my opinion. But we will see, it will be an interesting summer for Nick Nurse and whichever team will be hiring him.
