Uncle Ray’s Food & Liquor – Toronto, Canada

0

Who the hell is Uncle Ray’s? To be honest, I don’t really care who the hell is he as long as this resto and bar serves good food and good drinks.

Uncle Ray’s, just recently been opened, is located at 9 Church Street (Toronto, Canada), which is super close to The Esplanade Area and St. Lawrence Market. I was told there is also 2nd location for Uncle Ray’s just recently opened in the Hamilton location.

If I can give Uncle Ray’s a rating of 10 stars out of a 5-star rating system, I would! Uncle Ray’s is that good! It’s now my favourite new restaurant in Toronto.

Over these past few years, I couldn’t find a restaurant in Toronto that has a perfect balance of food component and cocktails component. It’s either a resto that is good on the food component but fail on the drink menu or vice versa. There are too many new restaurants in the GTA that are just so focus on selling booze coz that’s what helps them make money. Meanwhile, the food component is lacking since food cost is high and many just want sell drinks to pay the high rent. You can’t blame those restaurant owners but it does make it difficult to find  resto that has a good balance in both components. So after visiting Uncle Ray’s, I was blown away that the food & drinks are so good here!

Everything we ordered was tasty and was well-executed by Chef Michael and his team. Moreover, every cocktail was colourful, tasty, all the components worked well with each other.

They also have a seasonal vegan succotash which my vegan friend said it was colourful and tasty.

The steak and potatoes was delicious as well. The steak was perfectly cooked at our liking at medium rare. And it came with mash potatoes and a bone marrow. How often do you see bone marrow paired up with a steak? I luv this combo.

After we completely cleaned out the steak and potatoes, the server gave me a surprise! He handed me a shot of bourbon whisky and he told me to luge it down the bone marrow? It wasn’t that easy as I had to tilt the bone marrow and pouring the bourbon carefully without dripping but it was quite a cool experience. It’s my 1st time doing this bone marrow luge.

Good food! Good drinks! Good ambience! Good vibes! Good portion of food!

Most importantly, good price! Price on many of the dishes were reasonable and fair.

Every item that we ordered were tasty but if I am only allowed to order 3 items, I will order….

1) 48 Hours Crispy Beef Ribs.

2) Roasted Double pork chops

3) Steak & Potatoes

We will definitely come back and bring friends & families to experience the food and drinks here. I heard their brunch is awesome as well. Perhaps I will make a visit to check out the brunch.

P.S. – Uncle Ray’s also has Happy Hour Specials from Monday to Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. $1 grilled oyster and $6 Goose Island beers. Click here to check out my Happy Hour experience at Uncle Ray’s.
