Steam bean sauce chicken feet

Our family has been coming to Full House Chinese Cuisine (Full House) for many many years for its Dim Sum. Located inside the plaza at the Midland Avenue/Finch Avenue intersection, you will see a medical building across the plaza. Full House is located at the corner spot and it’s the first restaurant you see when you pull up at the parking lot.

Since the pandemic, we haven’t visited this resto for over 1.5 years, but now with warmer weather and more relaxed dine-in restrictions, we felt safe to check it out again especially our family are double dosed.

There are patio tables outside for those who prefers patio setting. If you are ok to eat steamy dim sum outside, it’s another new patio dining experience. We opted to dine-in as that’s our usual spot to indulge the dim sum.

I have to say, the food quality hasn’t changed, it’s still the same consistent, authentic and traditional dim sum selections. Mind you, prices did jack up a bit but we got to understand that food costs are increasing especially during the pandemic, but prices are still manageable and still cheaper than many other similar dim sum places in the GTA.

If you are looking for fancy, gimmicky dim sum, Full House ISN’T the place, you will have to go to places like One Fusion, Yu Seafood, etc. However, if you just want comfort food, traditional good dim sum, Full House is for you.

Steam Har Gao (shrimp dumpling)

Here are some of the dim sum items that we ordered, the usual Har Gao 蝦餃 (shrimp dumpling), Shumai 燒賣 (pork dumplings).

Steam Shumai (pork dumpling with sprinkle of fish roe)

In particular, I suggested you order the steam seafood dumpling with soup. It costs more than the other dim sum items at $4.68, but it’s worth it. It’s steam to order, one big soup dumpling that is good for an individual person. The soup is hot and steamy. Inside the dumpling, there are generous amount of crab meat, shrimps, fungi, scallops and if you drop just a little hint of red vinegar, it’s food heaven in the making!

DID YOU KNOW? – Part of the dim sum culture is drinking Chinese tea with the dim sum. At most dim sum restaurants, they charge a small tea fee per person. For example, if I have a family of 4 people, the pot of tea (unlimited refill) will be $1.50 x 4 people, $6.00 to the tea prices. I just wanted to point this out in case you never know about this tea cost and there are argument with the tea price being included into your bill.
