The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has just announced its list of 50 best restaurants from around the world. And taking home ranking #1 and #2 are restaurants from Copenhagen, Denmark, they are respectively NOMA and Geranium. And luckily, MoKenny and I were lucky enough to dine-in both of these restaurants.
When we dined at NOMA, it was already ranked #1. Meanwhile, Geranium was more up and coming, when we dined there, they were ranked #46 and slowly reached up the ranks every single and year and now at #2 in year 2021.
It’s extra special to me and MoKenny as it feels like you saw a potential of a restaurant inventing new dishes, trying new culinary styles and bringing in new unique ingredients to its patrons and you like what they are doing and now they are getting the recognition. It just feels like you bought a stock and its prices went skyrocket. Or you went to a hole-in-a-wall bar and listen to this band and they eventually turned into a global sensation. It’s that type of feeling right now for me for Geranium. It was also a special feeling when we got to interview Chef Rasmus Kofoed himself at Geranium before we dined at the restaurant.
Both Chefs have something in common. They are both down-to-earth, dedicated, passionate of what they are doing. They strive for greatness not for awards or fame, but they do it coz they care about their food, their culinary passionate and most importantly, they want their patrons to be happy and walk out feeling satisfaction. That sense of accomplishments and feelings are what they strive for every day. How do I know? We spoke with both of them and that’s what they told us.
