Looking for a cool spot to enjoy some nice cocktails and nightlife when visiting Washington DC?
Come check out this Speakeasy spot called “Silver Lyan”, located at the basement of the Riggs Hotel.
It was super convenient for me to check this place out as the Washington DC Tourism chose this Riggs Hotel as my place to stay during my Press Trip, all I need to do is press the elevator button and boom, I am here!
This Speakeasy is situated in what was once the vault of Riggs National Bank.
Hotel Guests & The Locals luv coming to this hidden gem for cocktails and snacks.
Definitely worth the visit. I am not going to show you the entrance or how to enter, I let you come and experience it yourself to enjoy your own Speakeasy experience.
Moreover, I would like to send a special shoutout to the mixologist who gave me tons of great recommendations for my cocktails and she was super knowledgeable of the special cocktails being served here.
In particular, I took her recommendation by ordering the “Smith Island Snap”. She could tell me the entire history and background story of how this cocktail’s name was being created. Better yet, these were REAL starfish + seashell that was frozen along with the special ice cube. You will only get to see this with this ice cube when you order this Smith Island Snap!
This cocktail was well-made, multi-layers of complexities to the flavour, yet it works! So smooth!
Another one! I took on the mixologist recommendation yet again after a great drink. This time, the drink was called “Superman 2” and it was super refreshing! It consists of Hendrick’s gin, oak wine, oolong, doubted strawberry with green pea. Another great pick!
And…..in a totally unexpected fashion, the manager at this bar surprised me with this prized drink!
Hibiki – Suntory Whiskey (a Japanese whiskey)
This was a perfect way to prepare for my upcoming Asia trip to Japan.
I have to say, one of my favourite spots is sitting at the bar. I get to interact with the mixologist and other staff members. Moreover, I get to chat with the person sitting beside me and sometimes we make new friends or new acquaintance.
Overall, I highly recommend Silver Lyan. Luv the choice of music, the vibes, the ambience and the friendly service really went above & beyond. Most importantly, the staff really know their cocktails well and you can feel the passion and the stride to make a perfect drink was evident!
