The Old Ebbitt Grill – Seafood & Steakhouse [WASHINGTON DC TRAVEL SERIES]

0

When visiting Washington DC, many peeps will visit “The Old Ebbitt Grill”. Almost everyone knows this place as it’s like a stable for good food & drinks.

This is an old classic popular spot for freshly shucked oysters, clam chowder and a good piece of steak.

Whether it’s lunch time or dinner time, this place is always hoppin’ & jampacked.

Make sure you make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Best part? It’s only a short walk from my Riggs Hotel and right across the iconic White House.

The Old Ebbitt Grill called these “Little Neck Clams” but they were pretty big to me, as big as an oyster. They were so meaty and refreshing. So good that I ordered seconds.

Oysters is one of Old Ebbitt Grill’s specialty. They offered fresh oysters from different parts of Canada, Maine and Virginia. Since I always get to try Canadian oysters back in Canada, I opted for oysters from Maine and Virginia.

By the way, I ordered a crab soup since I often get to eat clam chowder soup. But it’s a rarity in Canada to offer crab soup. I was unexpectedly blown away! The crab soup was hot & steamy which is a major plus! Lots of meat and vegetables which made it super hearty. Most importantly, there was a little bit of heat to the soup, which I totally didn’t expect that. This is a MUST ORDER food item and I highly recommend it. It’s so unforgettable that I am craving for it as I am writing this MoVernie BLOG!!!!

MoVernie VS Steak MOMENT! I ordered a classic 16oz ribeye steak as I figured it can’t go wrong especially The Old Ebbitt Grill is famous for its steak and its meat!

MoVernie QUESTION: How do you normally like your steak? I like it “Medium Rare”.

Just look at the butter on top of the steak, oh mine, I’m luvin’ it! Steak was grilled to perfection with the meat so flavourful, tender and juicy. I managed to finish the entire steak. As always, I order what I can manage and not waste any food. I am grateful and thankful to have good food.

And my dessert? It’s a liquid dessert called “Old Fashioned”. Cheers!
